Micro / Flash Fiction Theme: Weird Carrots
“Mom! Dad’s feeding the weird-looking carrots again.” Yuki, the witch’s daughter, yelled from across the shop.
Maya, the witch, shouted from the counter, “Johnathan, what did I tell you about feeding those wild mandrakes.”
Johnathan came in sheepish. “But they cry so much, they must be hungry.”
Maya looked at her husband incredulously, “Of course, they cry at you. They know you’ll feed them fertilizer. Now we have a bunch of fat mandrakes hanging around and scaring the customers.”
A group of guinea pig-like cries sounded outside. Johnathan looked longingly at the door.
“Don’t you dare,“ Maya harrumphed.

Okay, this story turned out cuter than I thought it would. I am probably going to use either the characters or the type of mandrakes in this flash fiction in my other works.
