✨Weekly Update✨
🧺SDV Mods:🧺
Well… because my hands were giving me such a hard time this week, I barely got any of my Nyapu retextures done. However, I was able to finish several of the Colored Project assets I’ve been working on since I can doodle those on my phone. (All I need are my thumbs to create art that way!)
Colored Project: I’ve been working on several color-themed retexturing projects and just finished the flooring this week. Next up are fences and torches. I’m also sketching up some ideas for sprinklers, lanterns, and coop animals. I’m honestly having a ton of fun with these edits. It’s something productive and relaxing I can do even when I’m not feeling great, which makes me really happy.
Jakk’s Quinn: Urg… Jakk got an update this week. That meant adding another portrait and two new outfit designs. Thankfully, it happened now and not when I was almost finished. I’ve started working on Quinn’s Summer outfits, and she’s coming along nicely. Some of her hairstyles are a little confusing since they change during certain seasons, but I am figuring it out.
Lumen: I finally finished Lumen’s base and Spring outfits! His base was really hard to draw because of all the tiny details I needed to include. I referenced his original design as well as I could… hope I did him justice. I think he turned out super cute, in my opinion. I’ll try to complete him this upcoming week… but no promises!
Lucikiel: Oh boy. I’ve been wanting to draw my version of him forever. But his base is giving me a bit of trouble. I was debating on how I want his base design to look… but I think I’ve finally figured out which Nyapu base I want to reference. Since base work is time-consuming as heck, I’m not sure if I’ll have him updated next week.
Seasonal East Scarp: Okay, I know I said I’d wait until Nyapu finished their version of the new East Scarp characters… but I couldn’t help myself. I really didn’t like seeing non-matching portraits in my Mega Modded save. So, for those of you who follow my updates… would you like to see me work on this sooner rather than later?
🎮Games:🎮
SDV: I played a bit in both my mega-modded save and my simple save. Nothing too really interesting happened. I’ve been mostly grinding and chatting with villagers. My mega-modded game progresses slowly because every time I play, I find something I need to tweak or mod. My simple (red-themed) save is looking better and better as I add my own retextures to it. I’ll have to show it off once it’s finally put together in the way that I like.
Slime Rancher 2: I’ve decided to start my mornings off relaxing. So, I’ve been playing an hour of a game each morning. Right now, my game of choice is Slime Rancher 2. I just love this series. What’s not to love about raising and feeding adorable slime monsters? I’ve filled three ranch sections with my cute little creatures and their food gardens. Some of the new slimes are just too adorable! (The bat slimes are especially cute.) The map feels more complex than the first game, but that added challenge makes it even more fun.
Planet Crafter: It’s been a while since I touched this one. My sister got into it, so we started a multiplayer world together. There have been so many updates since I last played (back at the beginning of early access). The gameplay loop is just as addictive as ever. I’ve been maintaining our base while she explores, and we make a pretty good team.
Core Keeper: My friend and I have gone back to our co-op save. I’ve mostly been building, decorating, exploring ruins, and leveling skills. It’s been such a relaxing way to unwind and just chat. It’s a little sad that the new update was delayed, but at least we have something to look forward to!
📖Reading:📖
Lout of the Count’s Family: I originally read this series through fan translations a long time ago and loved it. I recently bought the officially published version and started rereading it. I still enjoy the story, but it doesn’t hit quite the same way it did the first time. I’m not sure if it’s the translation differences or if my tastes have changed. It’s still good…it just doesn’t have that magical “wow” factor for me anymore.
Mark of the Fool: One of my all-time favorites. I just finished rereading Volume 1 and am now in Volume 2. I adore the characters, world-building, and overall story. There’s something incredibly inspiring about watching a character thrive despite being marked with what’s essentially a cursed gift. If you enjoy long epic fantasy series, I highly recommend this one.
❤️🔥Life: ❤️🔥
I’ve been busy catching up on projects and chores that piled up while I was bedridden for a couple of weeks. Progress has been steady, but slow. Drawing on my computer was rough this week since my wrist wasn’t cooperating, but thankfully, I could still doodle on my phone. Overall, it’s been a good, just exhausting, week.
Take care, everyone, and stay warm this winter!
