Flash Fiction Short Story: Mobsters and Monsters

Micro/ Flash Fiction Theme: Mobsters and Monsters

Word Count Limit: 100 Words

There are two stories this week.

Title: A Monster

Two huge thugs bring in a bag of fertilizer for the indoor garden.

The boss’ daughter welcomes the mobsters with a smile.

“Hi, guys. Help yourself.” Angie gestures to a basket of freshly harvested fruits and vegetables.

One of the men goes to grab some fruit, and the other slaps his hand away while shaking his head.

She tears open the bag with her shears.

Inside the plastic bag is a beaten and tied-up man. His screams are muffled by tape.

“Fresh fertilizer needs so much work.”

Angie turns on her mini-saw.

“Now, to get rid of those pesky bones.”

The next story was a collaboration between my husband and myself.

Title: Monsters and Mobsters

Tina ran out of the dark parking lot towards the flashing lights.

A large, clawed hand slams her against a nearby wall.

Savoring her shrieks, the monster unhinges its jaw and wraps its razor-sharp teeth inches from her throat.

A flame illuminates a well-dressed man in a suit as he lights a cigarette next to the pair.

Eyes wide with fear, the monster drops Tina and slinks away into the night.

The mysterious stranger offers Tina a helping hand and ushers her through the well-lit doors of the casino.

“Behave, and you’ll have a good time.”
