This week, I dove head-first into several projects.
First up is the Candy Witch Illustration. I felt the need to redraw some of the background elements, specifically the decorations so that the artwork fits closer to the short story it is connected to. I also wanted to include some story ideas, like Easter Eggs, in the background.
I’m challenging myself on another project by creating a reference sheet and anatomy study of several muscular male figures. As someone who is better at drawing females, the practice has helped me stretch my skills. I can’t help but wonder:..why are buff male bodies so complex and lumpy?
I had some free time this week and was in the mood to create several original character designs. I had a lot of fun sketching these guys and girls. I don’t know if I’ll use them in any of my projects. Maybe I’ll get back into creating comics soon, and then I’ll probably use these character designs in some venture.
Lastly, progress on the Candy Witch short story has been coming along ever so slowly. I decided to make this a challenge by experimenting with a third-person narration I am unfamiliar with. Expressing the character’s thoughts exclusively through their actions has been a little bit of a nightmare. A few dialogue scenes needed to be rewritten so the NPCs could stand out in their own way.
Overall, this week has been a fruitful one, and I look forward to sharing more of my progress with you all next week.
