Weekly Update: 05-11-24

Good morning, everyone.

TTDR: Cleaning, Art Commission, Solo TTRPG, programming, TTRPG with friends, Study.

This week has been a very busy one for me. I’m still cleaning the house every day. Unfortunately, my vacuum finally died, and I had to buy another one. I got a fancy, expensive one. It’s so powerful that the vacuum sticks to the floor because the suction is so powerful. I’m impressed.

I’m currently working on a friend’s commission, and it’s coming along nicely. I had to do some major edits to the sketch this week. Hopefully, I’ll be able to move on to the clean sketch portion soon.

I’m going through some old drawings of characters I created years ago and redesigning them. I was able to create a couple of original characters. They were inspired by a combination of a bit of Wonderland and maid designs. I think I have one left in this series of drawings. Afterward, I’ll be moving on to the next pile. Next week, I might create a couple of original characters from the solo role-playing game I’m journaling. I’ve been really wanting to design some of the animal folk NPCS  I’ve created.

I’ve kind of been writing lately. I’m addicted to a solo tabletop role-playing game.  It’s called Fox Curio’s Floating Bookshop. I absolutely love it. The story premise is owning a bookshop houseboat and you traveled downriver from town to town, getting to know the local animal folk along the way. It’s a very chill and relaxing game. I’m contemplating creating a feel-good fantasy based on the journaling I’ve done while playing.

So, I went a little crazy this week and decided to create a program to make it easier for me to generate options during my solo role-playing game sessions. I had to dust off my programming knowledge in Python and develop a random generator that would print out the data options I fed it. If that sounds Greek to you, just know that I created a program that allows me to randomly generate scenarios that I can write about in my journal. It took so much longer than I would have liked. But now I have a program that I can use for any solo role-playing session as long as I tweak the data for that game.

If that schedule doesn’t sound busy enough, I’m also trying to finish reading a couple of my book club books. I just finished the wonderful world of Oz. It was pretty good. I need to finish a Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, and it’s giving me issues because I don’t like The Hunger Games series. (Sorry to everyone who is a fan.) I’m also behind on writing up several reviews of the books I’ve read. I hope to get a couple done today.

I’ve been researching how to create good tabletop role-playing game sessions for my friends. I’ll be hosting a game tomorrow, and I’m really looking forward to it. I hope I do okay as a dungeon master.

Lastly, I’ve been studying writing styles and practices. I’ve been reading some excellent books with great advice. Now, All I need to do is apply the techniques to my own writing.

LOL.  “Ain’t no rest for the wicked.”

I’ll see you all next week.
