MicroFiction: Mint Shoes

Micro/ Flash Fiction Theme: Buttermint Shoes

I look longingly at the stilettos in the display window.

After the accident, my deformed left foot made wearing heels impossible.

Samuel, the cobbler, comes running out of the store with a present.

“Please sit down, I have something I want to tell you,” He declares.

“Alright,” I murmur while resting on a nearby bench.

On his knees, he opens the box where two different-sized wedges rest.

The mint-colored platforms slid on like butter and fit perfectly.

“Please go out with me and I’ll make your shoes, forever!” He affirms.

They were so beautiful, I couldn’t help but cry, “Yes!”
