⭐Weekly Update⭐
Hi everyone, this week wasn’t very productive. I had some health issues… again (more on that below), but I still managed to get a few things done.
🧺SDV Mods: 🧺
Unfortunately, I didn’t get a lot done this time around. I finish one of Maggs Sebastian’s portraits (just two more to go). Made progress on Defense Division Isis. Her base is done, and I’m currently working on her summer outfits.
🎨Art: 🎨
The image for the book cover commission I’ve been working on is finished! If the client’s happy with it, I’ll move on to typesetting the title next week.
🎮Games: 🎮
So… I’ve finally given up on gacha gaming. They were eating up way too much time and money that I’d rather use on other things. This’ll be the last week I talk about them.
- Love and Deepspace: This was the hardest one to quit. I really liked it, and I’d just pulled Sylus’ solo too. But the store was way too pricey, and I had to play the game on the lowest settings so it wouldn’t crash on my old potato phone. It was fun while it lasted, but it’s rough if you’re not spending a lot. Honestly, it’d be cheaper to just buy otome games on Steam. Still, I’ll miss the boys.
- Honkai: Star Rail: I actually really liked how well this game ran on my old phone. The graphics were great, and I didn’t feel too left behind as a low spender (probably because I mostly collected male characters, and they rarely drop those). But the story felt really long, and the side quests didn’t keep my interest. Out of all the gacha games, this one was the easiest for me to walk away from. I just couldn’t connect with the characters.
- Arknights: This game was seriously amazing and totally worth the hype. The story? Incredible. But also super dark— a little too dark for my taste. I’m more into cozy or lighthearted stuff. Gameplay-wise, the strategy and tower defense were great, and the community was fun. But the grind was a bit much, and the shop system was super confusing. I was a little sad to drop this one, but I’m letting go of gacha games as a whole now. Also, like the others, it was tough to get strong male characters, which made it less enjoyable for me.
- Stardew Valley: I’ve been playing a lot of my “simple save” while stuck in bed this week. The Alternate Textures mod is so fun, and I keep getting distracted by decorating. I’m in Fall now, and since I’m not freezing time, the days are going by so fast. This save is all about animals, so I’m focusing on upgrading my coops and barns.
- Shapez: This game is such a fun puzzle factory game. I’m not going to lie… my systems are completely spaghetti. But since each level is basically a new build, I don’t even bother trying to keep it neat. I’m on level 18, and the shape they wanted this time had me totally stumped for a bit. I finally figured it out after a lot of trial and error, though!
📝Writing: 📝
Koriko: I’ve been playing a solo journaling TTRPG called Koriko. It’s inspired by Kiki’s Delivery Service (which is one of my favorite movies ever). I wasn’t sure whether to put this in the writing section or games, but since I’ve been writing a lot because of it, I figured it made more sense to put it here. It’s been so nice to enjoy writing again. I’ve been burnt out for a while, and this felt like a really easy way to get back into it. I’m having a great time writing about my young witch’s journey. If it turns into something good, maybe I’ll turn it into a short story.
🗨️Life: 💬
Health-wise, this week sucked. I spent more time in bed than I’d like and had a bad crash on Friday that I’m still recovering from. I did have one good day, though, and I used it to finish the art for the commission I am working on. I wish I’d been able to do more on the SDV portraits, but I’ve actually been able to write quite a bit on my phone while resting. Fingers crossed next week goes a little better, and I can get back to working on my PC again.
Wish me luck! 💖
