⭐ Weekly Update ⭐
🧺 SDV Mods: 🧺
- Sweet Visuals: This is a mod I’m collaborating on with a couple of other artists. I’m helping fill in for some of the Nyapu-style portraits they haven’t finished yet. So far, I’ve completed the missing portraits for all of the members of the Hart family. I am crossing my fingers that I can get to the other NPCs next time.
- Color-Themed Retextures: When I can’t get to my computer, it’s always nice to do a little pixel art on my phone. This week, I mainly focused on the seasonal potted plants. I’ve wanted to redo those for a while because I like the plants themselves, but not all of the original designs. I’ve completed two of the seasonal sets, and I’m currently working on a third. I also finished the base retextures for the recycler and the basic table.
🎮 Games: 🎮
- Ball Pit: This was an amazing game, and I’m glad I picked it up on sale. I’m a little sad I finished it so quickly, though. I highly recommend it if you enjoy rogue-lite arcade-style games. I could technically go for 100% completion, but I have such a huge backlog of games I still want to finish that my craving to get all the achievements will have to wait.
- Persona 4:
OK, I have to admit that I never actually finished Persona 4 back when it was on older consoles. I honestly can’t remember why. I picked it up on sale on Steam a while back, and it’s become a really good comfort game for me when I’m not feeling well. I had put it down for a bit, but I picked it back up this week. I just finished saving Yukiko, and I’m now working through Kanji’s dungeon. - Mega-Modded SDV: I ended up restarting my mega-modded save after removing some major mods and adding a bunch of new tweaks. I’m really grateful for the Discord community because I got some fantastic mod recommendations from them. There are also so many amazing mods constantly releasing that I can’t help but keep adding more to my game. I’m pretty sure my poor PC is crying at this point… but will that stop me? Absolutely not.
- Simple Red SDV: I didn’t get to play this one as much as I wanted this week. Mostly just continuing the grind to get my last two romantic partners and finish the Ridgeside Village spirit quests.
- Octopath Traveler: Since my husband and I finished Pragmata, we’ve been trying to decide what game to play next together. With our living room setup, we had to rule out a couple of options before finally landing on Octopath Traveler. Since my hubby played most of Pragmata, he’s been happy to watch me take the lead on this RPG whenever I’m feeling well enough to play. We started with the merchant girl and just finished the first part of her storyline. Now we’re trying to decide who to recruit next.
- Dinkum: I’ve really been missing having a game I can relax with while listening to audiobooks. I would’ve liked to play American Truck Simulator, but that’s best played on my main rig, and if I’m bedridden, that’s not really an option. Since Dinkum has had a ton of updates, I decided to jump back in and do what I love most ~ decorating!
- Core Keeper: My weekly co-op game with my friend continues. This time, I finally left our main base and went to the ocean biome area with her so we could collect decorations and ore. We ended up raiding one of the dungeons there and completely pillaging all of the furniture. Now we have piles of gray and blue decor back at base, and I need to figure out what I’m actually going to do with all of it.
📖 Reading: 📖
- Witch Hat Atelier: I love this series, and I’m slowly working my way through it. I only read a couple of pages of volume 8 this week before getting distracted by other books, but I’ll probably end up binging more of it next week.
- Demon World Boba Shop: This series is honestly one of my guilty pleasures. I can’t even say it’s objectively “good,” because I don’t know many other people who would enjoy something this cozy, but if you’re looking for a series with little to no drama, this is a wonderful comfort read. I’m in volume 3 already, and I’m enjoying seeing all of the characters slowly build up their new town.
- Mark of the Fool: I’m finally returning to this series. I’m currently in volume 5, where there are now three “usurpers”, and the villains are not happy about it. Chancellor Balin flirting with the demon that attacked them was absolutely hilarious. I’ve technically read these books before, but they’re still a joy to revisit in audiobook form while gaming. I’m near the end of this arc and should be moving into book 6 soon.
- My Lady Just Wants to Relax:
I originally read fan translations of the light novel series years ago and absolutely loved them. When I bought the first volume, I realized it was actually the manga adaptation! But honestly, I was completely fine with that since I love comics, and the artwork was stunning. I wasn’t feeling very well this week, so I decided to treat myself a bit, and my husband sweetly helped pay for part of the collection as a gift. I ended up reading volumes 1–7, and now I’m sad I have to wait for the next book. Hopefully, the series continues getting translated because you never really know with these kinds of releases. - I Don’t Want to Be the Villainess, so I Became the Doctor’s Assistant: The first volume was on sale, and I ended up liking it enough to buy the rest of the currently published books. Unfortunately, it’s still ongoing, which means I now have another series I need to wait on. It’s definitely cliché, but it hits exactly the kind of tropes I enjoy when I just want to completely turn my brain off. I’d mainly recommend it if you already enjoy villainess isekai stories.
🔐 Secret Project: 🔐
I’m sharing a tiny bit of concept art from a secret project I’ve been working on. I won’t be giving any concrete details yet since everything is still in the planning, storyboarding, and concept art phase. The main reason I’m showing anything at all is because I had a bit of a gap in this week’s update, and it fit nicely here. You’ll probably see little sketches and bits of concept art from time to time, but don’t expect any major reveals for quite a while.
💬 Life: 💬
This week was both good and frustrating. I got quite a bit done on my projects and managed to relax without too much stress, which I’m really thankful for. I’m also especially grateful for my husband helping me out around the house when I’m unable to get to things myself.
Unfortunately, like I predicted, my body has started forcing me into bed more often than I’d like. About half the week, I was able to work on projects normally, while the other half was spent trying to keep myself occupied while recovering. This is why there is a giant list of books and games covered in this update.
On the bright side, I am finally making progress through the massive backlog of games and books I’ve accumulated over the years during sales. With summer heat approaching, I am a little worried about how much it’ll slow down some of my modding projects, but I’ll still be working diligently on all the things I love creating. I just might be a bit slower with them for now.
I hope everyone is doing well and enjoying their summer so far. Thanks for taking the time to read, and I’ll see you all next time! 💖
